The extra trouble you have to go through to use the Mail (including notes), Address Book and iCal (including tasks) apps with Exchange are nothing compared to the annoyances of actually using Entourage... Switch!

The only extra efforts I (gladly) make:
- Accept meeting invites twice, once in Mail so it appears in iCal, and once via webmail so it appears in your Exchange calendar.
- Create actual meetings through webmail.
- Set my Out Of Office through webmail.

Totally worth it :)

Yes I do indeed indeed. Doing an 'online campaign by numbers', which is pretty much the kind I'm poking fun at.

I'm just trying to remember the last time I used a 'send to a friend' feature (rather than copy / pasting the URL).

On second thoughts, I think 'send to a friend' may be unethical since you're giving up someone else's email address (your friend!) for data capture.

One of my pet peeves about campaign sites is that they tend to easily fall back on 'content templates'. For example, there's always a tendency to incorporate a 'Send to Friends' feature to comfort the client that people will have a means to 'viral' the site. People will also try to add as much ATL material on the site as possible, in an effort to keep things 'consistent'. There will always be a TVC or the copy will be adapted from a brochure. I think this is sickening. It basically means that the campaign site ends up being another ramped-up version of existing communication, instead of being an individual component of campaign. Know what I'm sayin?

It's interesting where the boundary is between fairness to the company versus fairness to the consumer. Like your example about the call centre number - the company has every right to minimise their costs, but not to the degree that consumers get angry trying to find what they're looking for.

I think it comes down to good design - if people can get what they need online, they won't need the phone number - in which case it doesn't need to be 'hard to find'. If they can't get what they need, hiding the phone number might save costs but it won't exactly help their brand in the long run.

I agree that labeling things green can be very deceptive. That's why I'm glad there are so many watchdogs out there - both organizational and bloggers. There should be industry standards developed in this regard so that the public gets a chance to see what progress companies are making without having to be confused by green-washing. One of the other ways people say the iPhone will change things is in the apparent way UX has taken a front seat over featuritis. Although I'm not sure this is true. I guess I agree with Greenfield's comments on the poor execution of the whole service around iPhone by AT&T that shows the iPhone really doesn't have a great experience...

I am still regularly surprised by the amount of ignorance and lack of empathy found in some of our fellow humans. The idea of these people having a more direct influence on the decision making bit of politics scares me just slightly more than politicians do... I say 'nay' for now ;)
